Update 14 August 2026
Not much happening with DoD:S at the moment, hence the lack of news.
Only one thing to cover, a potential and rare update for Day of Defeat:Source and other Source 1 games.
The source news for this was shared by "Yui" on A bots United discord post, Yui shared the details from a Valve hlds group message. Below is what the message said if you can't read that discord / valve hlds message post....
https://list.valvesoftware.com/hlds/msg/42371801/ (you need a login to read the hlds messages so Yui posted the message on discord)
We're working on updates for the Source multiplayer games below. We've set the "prerelease" beta branches for each game's client and dedicated server to point at the new builds. If you're able to help, please test the beta branches and report any problems.
Thanks.

So no dods game servers are running the beta prerelease version but I did see one CS:S server running it.
To check out the prerelease version...
If you go to your Steam Library Day of Defeat Source Icon...
1. Right click and select "Properties"
2. Then click on Game Versions & Betas
You can see there is a prerelease beta active and its date is Aug 7, 2026
I did notice the Use Steam Networking function changed to have four selections and not just a tickbox for on and off, you can see that in this image.
No date if it does update but those three items for DoD:S would be welcome when it does drop to us.
I tested MetaMod:Source and RCBot2 on my listenserver (offline) and they work ok on the new version
As we know the mods sometime break on updates, not tested SourceMod, I suppose since MetaMod:Source works, SourceMod may work too.
Update 31 July 2026
Not much has been added since May, just chilling (it's winter in Australia) and not even playing games much :)
Only real news is a new map download dod_avalanche_the_beast_fix (with RCBot2 waypoints)
Not been waypointing or much else in this winter period, I have been playing ARMA 2 (DaiZy single player mods) mostly, favorite game outside of dod and BF2.
We will see what August 2026 brings!
Update 19 May 2026: RCBot2 waypoints updated today...here.
Update: 17 May 2026 - today dodbits had (now fixed) a brief issue with downloads, please report any downloads not working... contact me.
All should be good now, the folks at JDownloads (who make that Joomla! "component") were on to that issue very quickly, within a couple of hours, fixed.
Highly recommend JDownloads for sites like this, very easy to work with, number 1 for a Joomla! website like this.
I have not updated dodbits.com in a while... been very busy with dod 1.3 on Sturmbot.org.
In April I want to update a few items, check the RCBot2 waypoints and pages, just a tidy up.
10 April 2026 - I have already adjusted my DoD:S dedicated server at home - with RCBot2 article and updated the download for it.
The reason was that RCBot2 had a recent update and files here are getting a bit old... like a year too old.
I'll work through the files that need a update and post updates here.
12 April 2026 - Article adjusted LINUX RCBot2 installation guide adjusted items so a Listen Server works with MetaMod:Source and the new RCBot2 version 2 alpha 8.
12 April 2026 - RCBot2 installation download (mirror of APGRoboCop github release) has changed to RCBot2 version 2 Alpha 8 for Windows and Linux. Both OS versions are in the download, both are different installs and readmes (PDF with images), especially affected is the Linux missing game files, you must read the readme to fix that issue when using RCBot2 on Linux native.
Apology: Sorry all who downloaded the above RCBot2 install and found the windows files were missing, this has been fixed.
I am trying to keep the guides as simple as possible, as always the many issues in dods make them a little more complex. I hope my new guides and downloads reduce some of that issue.
