INsanes VER 10 GUI and HUD was created by INsane
Development halted!
Changed download... ver 11 SteamPipe beta Please see my front page for details.

NOTE: DoD:S has updated to the new SteamPipe file system .

Any new improvements will be placed in the new dod:s beta HUD. I will start a separate topic in this forum for that "soon".

Ver 11 beta 12 changes
* Fixed the installer for the little image to the spec button on the teammenu.

Ver 11 beta 11 changes
* Changed a image that was going nuts, 2nd last crosshair on TeamMenu.
* Also added a little image to the spec button on the teammenu.

Manual Files? I have uploaded the latest Ver 11 beta 12 HUD manual files here . The manual files are all the elements of the latest hud packed in folders, it is very confusing to install and only meant for other modders, please stick with the installer if you can.

The New Team Menu in Ver 11
The guide to the whole menu is here.
This has a lot of stuff added, one "controversial" addition may be the netcode buttons.

Honest to god it is only a set of default buttons based on 5 basic ISP speeds that are common through the world.
I released the same thing for CSS recently, was told by "expert posters" in the CSS forum it was "broken".

Some facts... It follows the VALVe wiki recommendations. It uses default cvars, tested on-line against real servers, it's values are generic and within what almost all servers will allow you to have in netcode settings.

Please, read the section about it, if you ever wanted a tool to adjust your rates quickly just for one map ...this is what it does.
As for the people who disagree... TEST THE BLOODY THING LIVE FIRST ON LIVE SERVERS!!!!! You will see it does not alter files IF you have a autoexec.cfg set, it DOES adjust lerp based on recommendations and live research on the current orangebox engine not 10 years experience of the OLD source engine... FFS... they are not the same engine anymore, try and tell a CSS player that...almost impossible, if you think it is simple to understand and netcode can be fixed by a "1337 player insert name" config file...you have it wrong right there. Time to rethink...

1. The net is dynamic, speeds alter ... one set of commands can often work for a certain machine, ISP speed, game server speed, but will it EVERYTIME? Answer....no.
2. Each players speed connection and aim technique is different... so how can another player's config work on your speed? Answer...it may not.

The new netcode section gives you a way to explore what is possible with the main commands, it reports your settings and if the server has adjusted them, it also provides a way to set lerp. It can make basic changes when lag suddenly appears ...but only temporarily, the map changes... it reads your old settings from the autoexec.cfg file... back to your standard set.

If you do not have a autoexec.cfg file... press the ISP speed you think you have it will be permanent, change at any time.

ATI users can expect some addons too...
The menu for that ( full image click here ). It is meant for 3 x 24-23 Inch monitors with a 5760x1080 size res.

Kim, do you want me to provide my feedback again on your HUD, since it was on the other forum. Also, should I post my HUD again on the forums, or upload straight into DoDBits?

Yeah, what he said up above :)

Not sure any1 was aware of, or read, my last couple of posts in the olden forum...

I asked about a way of altering Lerp settings in 0.01 increments by way of plus/minus buttons in Team menu (or elsewhere) - bit like your easy 'rate' setting - so it can be configured quickly according to server location and policy.

My clan server (which is 2000 miles away) stipulates 100ms Lerp so I have to stick to that, but it is probably way too high for my 'local' servers... :(

The old forums are still there and yep, do put your comments in.

The netcode issue, honest truth I only ever adjust rate, cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate, even those I rarely have to fool with.
The most common causes of poor performance is outside the game and the more people mess with default settings the worse you get.

Biggest improvement I have found since Orangebox came out is when you turn off High Dynamic Range lighting. Past that ...
1. Never play in a windowed mode, it makes a difference, run some tests if you don't believe me.
2. Other users downloading torrents.... this is nasty.
3. Wireless networks, can be intermittent and buggy.
4. Overheating CPU and Graphics card/s. Quite common...have you blown out the dust in your CPU / GPU fins? Advise you do every 3 months in a house with a clothes dryer... go look at it.
5. Play with your video settings "high", turning them down seems to shift instructions from the GPU over to the CPU! My PC's for the last 5 years get better performance on the highest settings than the lowest.
6. It does not matter what you set your local commands at. The sever you play on ultimately decides that for you....

A common server.cfg there are many...some, like client configs are shit, some are ok.

//Min bandwidth rate allowed on server (DEFAULT=3500, 0=unlimited).
sv_minrate "3500"

//Max bandwidth rate allowed on server (DEFAULT=0, 0=unlimited).
sv_maxrate "0"

//Maximum updates per second that the server will allow (DEFAULT=66).
sv_maxupdaterate "66"

//Minimum updates per second that the server will allow (DEFAULT=10).
sv_minupdaterate "10"

And these...
sv_client_cmdrate_difference : 20 : , "rep" : cl_cmdrate is moved to within sv_client_cmdrate_difference units of cl_updaterate before it is clamped between sv_mincmdrate an
sv_client_max_interp_ratio : 5 : , "rep" : This can be used to limit the value of cl_interp_ratio for connected clients (only while they are connected). If sv_client_min_
sv_client_min_interp_ratio : 1 : , "rep" : This can be used to limit the value of cl_interp_ratio for connected clients (only while they are connected). -1

So... that's why I have never worried about fine tuning, in the end if you have stock standard common, good equipment, standard VALVe settings for the game, adjust up just your rate , cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate just a bit, turn off HDR and leave the Video settings the fuck alone and on recommended, then have a good solid connection to your ISP... that is no one downloading porn or torrents while you are playing......it rocks.

I install someones "high fps" config... runs like shit and is full of cheats, server commands that have no effect on a client PC, turning off the power of my GPU ... ARGHHHH, honest I see this way too often...

Thats why my teammenus just have rate , cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate. Maybe some interp adjustments are in order, depends on what server you go to in the end and what they have in their settings.
